Limit your Time in the Sun
Sun damage is one of the main causes of wrinkles, and numerous studies have shown how damaging UV rays are for your skin. Try to limit your time in the sun, especially on hot summer days. If you are going to be spending extended periods of time outside, always wear sunscreen with a high SPF level. Even if it’s cold outside, you should still wear sunscreen if the sun is shining.
Sleep on your Back
If you tend to sleep on your stomach with your face pressed into the pillow, the pressure will make lines form on your face. As your skin ages, these lines won’t go away when you wake up, and they can lead to wrinkles. To prevent these lines from forming, train yourself to sleep on your back.
Also, be sure that you’re getting at least eight hours of sleep a night. When you don’t get enough sleep, your body produces an excess of cortisol, which is a hormone that breaks down skin cells, causing wrinkles to form.
Eat Foods that are High in Vitamins and Antioxidants
Antioxidants can protect your skin from damaging free radicals in the environment, like pollution, pesticides, and UV rays. This protection prevents new wrinkles from forming, and it can also make your skin look brighter. Vitamins A, C, and E are all great at bringing moisture back to your skin and keeping your skin healthy. To reduce wrinkles, eat foods that are high in these types of vitamins and antioxidants. To get your vitamins, try eating fruits and vegetables like oranges, kale, red bell peppers, broccoli, and papaya. For antioxidants, eat blueberries, blackberries, and kidney beans.
Another good food to eat to reduce wrinkles is soy. Soy helps bring firmness back to the skin, and it can improve the skin’s structure. You should also try to incorporate salmon into your diet. This fish contains high amounts of omega-3, which helps keep the skin plump.
Don’t Over-Wash your Face
Tap water can be harmful for your face if it’s overused. The water will strip the skin of its natural oils and moisture that protect your face from wrinkles. Try to only wash your face a couple of times a day.
